Three police officers have been assaulted in an incident outside a Weymouth supermarket.

Dorset Police had a report of anti-social behaviour by a group of people at Asda in Newstead Road between 5.30 and 6.00pm on Monday last week (18th September).

As they were leaving the store, it's alleged an altercation took place between a woman, who was with the group, and two off-duty police officers.

One of the officers suffered cuts and scratches to his arms.

Further police attended, and two more officers were assaulted as they tried to detain a suspect.

One of those officers attacked suffered a minor injury.

A 19 year old woman from Weymouth has been arrested on suspicion of common assault of an emergency worker.

She's been bailed while enquiries continue.

PC Alison Baker, of Dorset Police, said:

“I am keen to speak to anyone who was at Asda at the time of the incident and may have witnessed what happened, or captured anything of relevance on mobile phone or dashcam footage.”
