Three people arrested in connection with Wareham distraction theft
A woman in her 70s had £1,000 in cash stolen
Three people have been arrested in Wareham, in connection with an alleged distraction theft.
A female victim, aged in her 70s, withdrew £1,000 in cash from a bank on Wednesday 7th September.
A short time later she was approached in North Street by two women with a clipboard - they claimed to be from a charity.
The woman gave them a £5 donation, but later found the envelope of cash had gone missing.
Now, Dorset Police have arrested a 27 year old man and a 30 year woman from Portsmouth, on suspicion of theft and fraud.
A 36 year old woman from Portsmouth has also been arrested on suspicion of fraud.
They've all been released under investigation.
Dorset Police had issued a warning earlier this month about similar distraction theft incidents across Dorset.
They had particular concerns about cases in Shaftesbury.
