Strike action's being taken by staff at Dorset's Sherborne School today (Thursday 27th June).

Members of the NEU are walking out following months of negotiations over new working arrangements, due to be brought in from September.

The union has called for the suspension of the changes to allow for further talks, offering to stop their industrial action.

But the school rejected that, so the walkout goes ahead with a picket line planned at the gates.

NEU reps say they're working to ensure the safeguarding of pupils in the boarding environment today, but warn lessons will be impacted.

Hannah Packham, NEU South West Regional Secretary said:

“Members want to be listened to, to valued and respected. It is important that the school open meaningful dialogue, pause the proposals and listen to their staff. Only this can avoid further disruption.

"We remain open to negotiation and discussion and hope the school will commit to the same."

The school hasn't commented on the action.
