UPDATED: 2 people rescued after serious accident on A35 Puddletown Bypass

Firefighters have freed 2 people who were trapped after a serious accident on the A35 Puddletown Bypass this morning.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service say 3 cars were involved in the crash.

A third person was helped from their vehicle by paramedics.

A spokesperson for DWFRS said:

"Crews from Dorchester and Weymouth were called to a road traffic collision involving 3 cars along the A35 bypass towards Puddletown.

"Two people were medically trapped within their vehicles and rescued by firefighters using hydraulic rescue equipment, one more person was not trapped and was helped from their vehicle by paramedics.

"Firefighters continued working to make the vehicles and scene safe."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said:

“We were called at 7:50am to a road traffic collision near Dorchester. We sent four double-crewed land ambulances and an operations officer and conveyed three patients by land ambulance to Dorset County Hospital.”

Dorset Police say the road was reopened at 10.40am this morning.
