Firefighters from Dorchester were called after a neighbour heard a smoke alarm
One person has been rescued from a flat fire in Poundbury.
Firefighters from Dorchester were called out last night after a neighbour heard the smoke alarm.
A spokesperson for Dorchester Fire Station said:
"Once outside the front door the alarm was sounding and smoke could be seen inside the property.
"The crew forced entry to the property and found the source of the smoke was from a pan left on the cooker, with the occupant asleep on the sofa.
"The crew gave casualty care and requested the attendance of the ambulance service due to smoke inhalation.
"This is a good example of having working smoke detection as without it, this incident could of been much more serious."
