Weymouth has a new Mayor, with Cllr Jon Orrell taking on the role for the next 12 months.

Cllr Caroline Nickinson has been chosen at his Deputy by the Town Council during a meeting on Wednesday (15th May).

Newly elected Mayor, Cllr Orrell thanked everyone for their support and endorsement saying:

"We’ve got many things to be proud of in the town, including just finding out that Weymouth Beach has retained its Blue Flag and Seaside Award."

Outgoing Mayor Cllr Kate Wheller and outgoing Deputy Mayor Cllr Alex Fuhrmann have also been thanked for their hard work over the previous year.

Her Mayoral Appeal raised around £550, which will be split between the British Heart Foundation, the Friends of MV Freedom, and the Evergreen Suite at Westhaven Hospital.
