One man's died and two people have been seriously injured after a crash in Bournemouth.

The incident happened at around 9.25pm last night (15 June) on the A338 northbound and involved a bronze coloured Lexus and a silver Nissan Micra.

Very sadly, a 31-year-old man from Hampshire died at the scene. His family have been told and the coroner has been notified.

A woman in her 70s has been taken to hospital in a critical condition and a woman in her 30s sustained serious injuries.

Arrests

It was reported that three men had left the scene.

They were arrested nearby on suspicion of driving offences.

A road closure between Blackwater junction and Ashley Heath roundabout will have to remain in place until around 11am this morning (Friday 16 June) to enable a safe investigation of the scene.

Police appeal

Police Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Most importantly, our thoughts are with the family of the man who has sadly died in this collision.

“We are conducting a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances of the incident and I would urge any witnesses to please contact us.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured anything relevant on dashcam footage.

“We are aware that the current road closure has a big impact in this area and I am very grateful for motorists’ patience while it is necessary to stay in place.”
