Man in his 70s dies in Bournemouth crash

The two vehicle collision happened in New Road yesterday morning (23rd December)

A man in his 70s has died in a two vehicle collision in Bournemouth.

The crash happened on New Road, at the junction with Avebury Avenue, at around 10.50am yesterday (Saturday 23rd December).

A Skoda Citigo and a BMW were involved, with the Skoda driver passing away at the scene.

Police are now investigating what happened.

Sergeant Mike Burt, of the traffic unit, said:

“First and foremost, our thoughts are with the loved ones of the man who sadly died in this incident.

“An investigation is underway to establish what happened and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.

“Also, I would like to speak to any motorists who were travelling in the vicinity and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
