Street food trading, more green spaces and better walking and cycling connections.

They are just some of the ideas to come out of a survey on how to make Weymouth seafront a year round destination for everyone to enjoy.

Designer Wayne Hemingway HemingwayDesign provided an update on Weymouth’s emerging Seafront Masterplan this week.

It follows a survey launch in May to gather public opinion which attracted more than 2,200 responses.

The data has now been collated and a summary was presented to town councillors, businesses and hoteliers from Weymouth.

A spokesperson for Weymouth Town Council said:

"Some of the initial ideas to come out of the survey include encouraging more walking and cycling in the resort to improve connections to the seafront from key parts of the town centre.

"Other suggestions include looking at more opportunities for street food trading, increasing green spaces along the Promenade, and making improvements that would encourage visitors to explore more parts of the seafront to the north of the resort."

The next steps are to develop a full proposal that will go out to public consultation in the coming months, when further details will be shared on how people can have their say.

Weymouth Town Council are keen to stress no decisions have been made at this point.
