Parts of West Dorset are suffering flooding this afternoon (Monday 4th December) - as the River Brit has burst its banks, coupled with lots of heavy rain.

That's affecting local roads, including the A35 around Dorchester currently closed between the Monkeys Jump and Stadium roundabouts.

Some businesses also started to see floodwaters too.

Groves garden centre in Bridport has been affected, and remains closed for now.

The Christmas tree in the car park of Groves Nurseries in Bridport is getting some extra watering today!

Their Manager, Charlie, has been telling us how bad it's been:

"When I got to work this morning, the shop and the restaurant inside were actually, but the main car park and the plant area was completely underwater.

"We're closed for today, initially we just wanted to make sure it was safe - but the rain kept coming down so we've got no car park so we've taken the decision to close today and hopefully we can open tomorrow."

It's a similar picture at the Grow Slow Nursery and the Pack Horse café.

Firefighters from Bridport are urging people to take care on the roads, and avoid driving through any floodwaters.

This all comes as more than a dozen flood warnings are in place across Dorset with further heavy rain expected.

A yellow alert for thundery downpours is in place until 6.00pm tonight.
