Advice from Dorset Council on clearing the Christmas waste

Some changes are being made to bin collections this week too

If you're wondering how to deal with extra piles of rubbish this festive season, there's advice from Dorset Council.

The authority's Waste Services say we're able to put out some additional items with our bins over the next couple of weeks, to help clear the decks.

Households can leave extra recycling in a sturdy box alongside the bin - but make sure any paper or card goes into the bin so it doesn't get wet and mulchy.

We're also welcome to add up to two additional sacks of rubbish out with the 'normal' bin for the first collection after Christmas.

There's also a reminder that collection dates are different over this period, with pick-ups a couple of days later in some cases.

Crews may also turn up at different times compared to what you're used to, so the advice is to get the bin out as early as possible to avoid being missed.

Collections will get back to normal from Monday 15th January.

There are also no garden waste collections until Monday 8th January 2024.
