Dorset charity wants your unwanted Christmas gifts
Diverse Abilities is holding a 'present amnesty' this January
A Dorset charity is calling on people, who might have got a Christmas gift they don't really want, to do something good with it!
Diverse Abilities, who support children and adults with disabilities, is holding a 'present amnesty', repurposing the items as raffle and auction lots through the year and helping with their fundraising.
They've said they'll take most sorts of new and unwanted presents - like beauty products, wash sets, cookbooks, alcohol, food hampers and more.
The only items they can't take are electrical goods.
Claire Cooper, fundraising officer at Diverse Abilities, commented:
“We’ve all received that one present from a distant relative that doesn’t know you all that well, or even received duplicates of the same thing because some people know you really well! These presents don’t need to linger in the back of the cupboard anymore as we will make good use of them throughout the year.”
Where to drop off
The gifts can be given to Diverse Abilities at their Head Office above Langside School in Poole, on weekdays between 10.00am and 3.00pm.
People are also encouraged to set up their own community collections, to them deliver them to the charity as one donation.
