'Coastal Critters' take over Bournemouth for Halloween
We're asked to be on the look-out for the next week or so
A set of 'coastal critters' have arrived in parts of Bournemouth, to mark Halloween.
The brightly coloured creatures are on rooftops around Boscombe, Westbourne and Southbourne at the moment, remaining until November 4th.
They've been put in place by Bournemouth Coastal BID for families to try and spot.
Fiona McArthur, Coastal BID Manager said:
“We are bringing something different to our trading areas this Halloween, stepping up this season to bring cheerful and iconic artwork to our streets. The aim of the campaign is to give visitors yet another reason to come to our shopping areas, to further reinforce the fact that each of these are vibrant and innovative, all with their own personalities and all supported by a strong network of hard working and creative shop, restaurant and bar owners and staff.
“Bristol based Designs in Air, who produce and install the sculptures, have worked internationally with Glastonbury Festival, the Olympics and Fuji Rock Festival to name just a few, and we are proud to be able to bring their innovative sculptures right into the heart of the Coastal BID areas to brighten up the streets as we head into the Christmas period."
There are critter based and Halloween activities planned over the next week or so too.
In Boscombe, the Critters will be featured on the big screen opposite the Sovereign Shopping Centre entrance, celebrating Halloween with a lively show, broadcast on a 3D building mapping projector.
In Southbourne, a pumpkin carving competition is being held, with a fancy dress event for children on Southbourne Green and at Fishermans Walk on Saturday (October 28th).
