Police in West Parley are investigating a burglary at the village hall there, calling it 'despicable and reckless'.

The Memorial Hall on Christchurch Road was broken into between 6.30pm on Saturday (25th May) and 2.30pm on Sunday (26th May).

Furnishings and fire extinguishers inside the building were left damaged as a result.

PC Tom Harness, of Dorset Police, said:

“This was a despicable and reckless act on a building that was built in memorial to those who gave their lives in World War I.

“We are doing all we can to identify who was responsible for gaining entry to this building that is well-loved by the local community.

“I would like to make a direct appeal to the offenders to do the right thing and come forward.

“Also, I am keen to hear from any witnesses who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity in the area.”
