Officers at Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following an alleged disturbance in Weymouth - in which a boy suffered minor injuries.

They report they were alerted to the incident at around 8pm on Friday 13 June 2025.

There, they say a man was found to be in possession of a metal bar in Bond Street, where he was allegedly swinging the pole toward a group of young people.

A 42-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He has been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

Police Sergeant Scott Williams, of Dorset Police, said: “I understand there were a number of people in the area who may have seen what happened. I would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please get in touch.

“I know this incident would have caused concern to anyone who was in the area, but I would like to reassure that a full investigation is underway.”
