Bournemouth shop worker assaulted during attempted robbery

A shop worker's been assaulted during an attempted robbery at a Bournemouth shop, in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday (2nd January).

A man went into the Boscombe Convenience Store on Christchurch Road at around 1.10am.

He demanded money from the till and attacked a staff member, but left empty handed.

CCTV pictures have been released of a suspect that police are looking to trace.

The employee was lucky to suffer only minor injuries that didn't need hospital treatment.

PC Laura Cooke, of Bournemouth police, said:

“This must have been an extremely upsetting incident for the victim, who was assaulted while carrying out their job.

“We are carrying out enquiries into this matter and have obtained CCTV images of the suspect.

“I would urge anyone with information relating to his identity to please come forward.”
