A Bournemouth based business has been fined for flytipping, after waste was found dumped in Wiltshire.

CCTV captured staff putting several bags of construction waste and building foam into the recycling bin belonging to another business in Melksham.

They were then forced to pay additional fees to empty the bins of contaminated waste, and reported the issue to Wiltshire Council.

The authority's now issued fixed penalty notices, totalling £700, to the unnamed Bournemouth company.

Cllr Nick Holder from Wiltshire Council said:

“We’re committed to tackling fly-tipping here in Wiltshire, but we also need help from the public to catch offenders. I would like to thank people who report incidents to us as they helped us to trace the offenders, and they are eligible for a reward as a result.

“These fines send a clear message to anyone thinking of fly-tipping in our beautiful county – we will fine or prosecute if you are caught dumping rubbish illegally in Wiltshire.”
