Bournemouth dog walker threatened with knife in attempted robbery

Police say the man asked the female victim to hand over her pet

A woman's been threatened with a knife in Bournemouth, by a man who tried to steal her dog.

The victim in her 30s was walking her dog at Redhill Common at around 11.00am on Monday (27th May) when a man approached her wearing a balaclava.

He produced a knife and asked her to hand over the pet.

When she refused, the dog began to bark and the man left towards Redhill Avenue.

The offender's described as:

  • White
  • Around six feet tall
  • Slim build
  • Wearing a grey tracksuit, with matching top and bottoms

PC Louis Kellaway, of Bournemouth police, said:

“This must have been a very distressing encounter for the victim and we are carrying out a full investigation to identify the offender.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area on the morning of Monday 27 May 2024 and witnessed any suspicious activity, or a man matching the description given, to please contact us.

“I would also like to hear from any residents living around the area of Redhill Common, or motorists who were driving in the vicinity, if they have captured any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage.”
