Man assaulted during attempted robbery on Weymouth seafront
The victim was approached by two men who asked for his bag
A man's been assaulted during an attempted robbery on Weymouth seafront.
The victim, who's local and in his 40s, was approached by two men on the beach under the Pier Bandstand at around 6.25pm on Tuesday last week (23rd May).
One of them asked the man for his bag, and was assaulted when he refused to hand it over.
He suffered facial injuries that needed hospital treatment.
A 35 year old man from Bath has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, and bailed while enquiries continue.
Police say the arrested man and the victim are known to each other.
Detective Constable Liam Moss, of Dorset County CID, said:
“I am continuing to investigate this incident and would ask anyone who was in the area and may have seen what happened to please get in touch.”
