Woman blinded in one eye after assault in Bournemouth

A woman has lost her sight in one eye after being assaulted in Bournemouth.

Dorset Police received a report at around 1.40pm on Saturday 24 September that a woman had been found with a facial injury in Richmond Gardens car park. It was reported that the woman, aged in her 30s, had been assaulted by a man who was known to her.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to an eye injury and it has now been reported that she has lost sight in her eye.

Arrest

Following enquiries by detectives from Bournemouth CID, a 33-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm. He has been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

Renewed appeal

Detective Constable Philip Riggs, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are still conducting enquiries into this matter and from our investigation we believe there were a number of people at the scene who we have not spoken to yet as potential witnesses. I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.

“I would also ask anyone with further information regarding this incident to please get in touch.”
