Man arrested on suspicion of drugs and weapon offences in Bournemouth town centre

A large hunting knife was reportedly found in the man’s waistband

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drugs and weapon offences after being stopped by officers on patrol in Bournemouth town centre.

At around 3.20pm on Friday 14 October 2022 officers from the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET) were conducting proactive patrols in the Lower Gardens when they reportedly witnessed a man who was believed to be dealing drugs.

Officers approached the man and he was detained for a search. He was reportedly found to be in possession of more than 70 tablets, believed to be a class A drug, and suspected cannabis as well as cash. It was further reported that a large hunting knife was found in the man’s waistband.

The 19-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A and B drugs with intent to supply as well as possessing a knife or bladed article in a public place. He has been released on police bail as further enquiries are carried out.
