British Transport Police have launched an investigation following a serious assault on the London Underground.

Officers were called to deal with an incident taking place on the Central Line on Monday, December 2nd at around 3:30pm.

The victim, described by the force as being a woman, was travelling on the line between Shepherd's Bush and Liverpool Street stations when another woman sat next to her.

The victim and the other woman began to argue before the victim was punched repeatedly in the head, scratching her face and pulling her in the process.

In an attempt to hold back the attacker, three other passengers restrained the other woman, but after things had calmed down, the woman returned and started to stamp on her feet.

A bottle of juice that the woman had been drinking was then poured on the victim, before grabbing an empty glass bottle and smashing it over the victim's head, causing her to lose consciousness.

Police are now looking for passengers who were on the train at the time when the attack happened to come forward as soon as possible.

As well as this, British Transport Police are also appealing for the three people who initially restrained the attacker to make themselves known.

Anyone who may have information relevant to the investigation can get in touch by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 41 from December 26th.
