Three men are set to stand trial after pleading not guilty to the murder of footballer Cody Fisher at a Birmingham nightclub.

Cody, 23, was stabbed on the dance floor of the Crane nightclub in Digbeth just before midnight on Boxing Day 2022.

Kami Carpenter, 21, of no fixed address, Remy Gordon, 22, of Cofton Park Drive and Reegan Anderson, 18, of Erdington all entered not guilty pleas to murder and affray at Birmingham Crown Court today (17 March).

They'll now stand trial in July.

Cody had played for several non-league clubs in the Midlands, including Stratford Town and Bromsgrove Sporting.

Both teams have held memorial matches in his honour since his death, and are working to help fundraise for Cody's family and charities.

"Cody was brave, he was caring"

At his funeral in January, Cody's girlfriend Jess Chatwin described him as "brave and caring".

"He always had the best advice. He was always my go-to and taught me not only so much about the world but also about myself," she said.

Cody's mother Tracey Fisher said she was very close with her son: "Cody and I had an amazing bond and we were truly best friends, sharing a home together.

"I was always happy when Cody was in the house as it meant he was safe and I knew where he was. I used to call Cody my little star and told him how handsome he was," she said.

The nightclub Crane, where Cody died, was closed permanently in January after having its operating licence removed by Birmingham City Council.
