Police have charged an 18 year old with the murder of a man from Cardiff.

Dad of seven Colin Richards died from a fatal stab wound in Ely earlier this month.

18 year old Corey Gauci from Cardiff was arrested in Stoke on Trent over the weekend.

He appeared for a brief hearing at Cardiff Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning where he spoke only to confirm his details.

The teenager was remanded into custody and will appear before the city's Crown Court on Wednesday.

A second man police were questioning - a 26 year old also from Cardiff - has been released on bail but has been recalled to prison for breaching his licence conditions.

Police say Colin Richards’ family has been updated and continue to be supported by specially trained family liaison officers.

The 48 year old was found unconscious in Snowdon Road, Ely, following a report of a disturbance in the Heol-Y-Berllan and Heol Trelai area of Caerau shortly before 11.30pm on Sunday, April 7.

He died a short time later.

South Wales Police say anyone with information or footage from the night Colin Richards died - Sunday April 7th - can still submit to it to their online portal.
