Two men are due to go on trial in April over the felling of the famous Sycamore Gap tree.

3\9 year old Daniel Graham from Carlisle and Adam Carruthers, who's 32, and from Wigton in Cumbria are accused of criminal damage.

Mrs Justice Lambert, at a short pre-trial hearing at Newcastle Crown Court on Monday, confirmed the trial date.

The much-photographed Northumberland tree was cut down in September 2023.

It had been popular with visitors and tourists, with millions of people travelling to the site and snapping photographs.

The Sycamore Gap tree was also featured in the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, starring Kevin Costner.
