Today (10th June 2020), Prince Phillp celebrates his 99th birthday, with Buckingham Palace releasing a lovely new photo of him alongside the Queen as they celebrate his birthday in isolation at Windsor Castle.

The rare photo, which was released late last night, was taken on the 1st June in the grounds of Windsor Castle, with both Queen Elizabeth II and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh looking remarkably well.

Whilst Her Majesty looks beautiful in a summery flower dress, Prince Philip looks smart in a blazer suit, accompanied by his Household Division tie.

This is the first public photo or appearance from 99-year-old Prince Philip since he was forced to spend a few nights in hospital for a 'pre-existing condition' back in December 2019.

The Duke of Edinburgh spent four nights at the King Edward VII's Hospital, and was photographed leaving the hospital on 24th December, just in time to spend Christmas with the Royal family.

This morning, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wished Prince Phillip a happy birthday on Twitter. They wrote, 'The 'Wishing a very happy 99th Birthday to His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh!' (sic)

Meanwhile, unlike previous years, there will be no big party to celebrate Prince Philip's 99th birthday, instead it's understood he will enjoy a low-key meal at Windsor Castle alongside the Queen, as well as a number of Zoom calls with the likes of Prince Harry and Meghan, Prince William and Kate, and Prince Charles and Camilla.

Check out all of the moments The Queen has been super relatable:

1) She still drives herself around

2) She overruled parliament and let cameras film her coronation

3) She's incredibly stylish

4) She loves her family and even apparently carries lucky charms in her bag from her children

5) She's always up for a good laugh

6) She loves her animals

7) She used clothing coupons to pay for her wedding dress, just like other young women during post-war rationing in 1947

8) She had some fun starring with Daniel Craig in a sketch for the London Olympics

9) She loves music and is big fan of George Formby

10) She constantly reassures us

The Queen sent out a message of hope to the UK back in April, in a pre-recorded speech where she thanked NHS staff and key workers, as well the millions who were staying at home to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

She ended the speech saying, "We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again.

"But for now, I send my thanks and warmest good wishes to you all."

We would like to wish Prince Philip a very happy birthday! 🎉
