A piece of music history is going up for sale in Cornwall.

The Old Sawmills is where Oasis recorded 'Definitely Maybe' - and has also welcomed the likes of The Verve, Jessie J, and Robert Plant over the years.

The site, which is based on the banks of the River Fowey, is being sold on the open market for the first time in over 50 years.

We previously caught up with the current owner, Dennis Smith.

The man, who lives in Devon, remembers meeting the band on Wednesday February 23, 1994, saying: "The first one out the van was Liam.

"Even at that point I recognised a certain presence and swagger, I don't mean that rudely, you know. It was just this attitude and I thought 'that's interesting'.

"Of course the rest of the guys came and loaded the gear into the boat because that's the way it goes in Sawmills, you can't get there by road."

The remote studio location, which has seven bedrooms with accommodation for up to 16 people, is a former 17th century water mill.

The week before Oasis arrived, the group Supergrass had been using the space - with acts like Robert Plant, The Stone Roses, The Verve and Muse having also recorded there.

A local property website is hosting the listing.

Stags describe it as a property which is 'steeped in history' with fame in its core, and 'medieval roots'.

They add: "There is evidence of early settlement and the site is mentioned in the Domesday Book.

"In the early 1900s, the area was almost certainly to have inspired Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows.

"During both World Wars, The Old Sawmills played a role. The surrounding Ancient Woodland was coppiced for WWI trench timber, and in WWII, the American Army used the site to prepare for D-Day, even building a hydroelectric system and cookhouse - parts of which remain visible.

"The most iconic chapter of The Old Sawmills' history began in 1974 with the launch of Sawmills Studios, one of the UK's first residential recording studios.

"It quickly gained legendary status, attracting artists such as Oasis, Muse, The Verve, Supergrass, the Stone Roses, and Robert Plant - to name just a few.

"Landmark albums like Definitely Maybe, In It for the Money, and Origin of Symmetry were recorded here, firmly establishing the studio's place in music history. As Britpop enjoys a revival and the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe is celebrated with a commemorative tour, the studio remains a cherished location for fans and musicians alike."
