A man has pleaded not guilty to murdering 26-year-old Elle Edwards after she was killed outside a pub in Wallasey on Christmas Eve.

Connor Chapman, 23, of Houghton Road, Woodchurch pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder.

Elle was shot at the Lighthouse pub in Wallasey, while on a night out with friends last year.

She is not believed to have been the intended target of the attack.

Champan also pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted murder, three counts of unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life and handling stolen goods, namely a Mercedes A-Class.

Meanwhile, a second man who also appeared, Thomas Waring, 20, of Private Drive, Barnston, Wirral denied a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon and assisting an offender.

A provisional trial date has been set for June.
