The fixture between Luton Town and Coventry City this afternoon (26th April) will go ahead after a fire at Luton Town Football Club last night.

Four fire crews were called to the fire just after 8pm after there was smoke found to be coming from the stadium's laundry room.

A small appliance had caught fire.

A Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire from an aerial platform and a 9m ladder using two hose reels".

The fire was put out in less than two hours.

A spokesperson for Luton Town football club said "We would like to offer a huge thank you to Beds Fire & Rescue for their quick intervention, along with club partners and staff who are also on site to help resolve the issue and ensure that everything is now safe".

Luton Town will host Coventry City at 12:30.
