Vets in Herefordshire have had an unexpected arrival at their front door yesterday, as a puffin was rescued by Vets for Pets in Hereford.

Puffins are famous for inhabiting small islands in the North Atlantic Ocean, and are known to reside in places just off the coast of mainland Scotland such as the Outer Hepredees an other coastal areas, not landlocked Herefordshire, located between 70 and 100 miles to the coastline!

In a post shared by Vets for Pets Herefordshire, the organisation said

"Honestly a first for us… a Puffin in Herefordshire!"

The post continued to say:

"We’re currently assessing the best centre to send her to for rehabilitation back to the wild and although she is not injured she is very tired from her inland holiday.

"If you’re local please keep an eye out for more, it’s possible that a group of them may have become lost or confused and ended up here!"
