A fly-tipper dressed as a dinosaur has been caught on CCTV dumping bags of rubbish in Southend-on-Sea.

Footage shared online shows the giant inflatable purple T-Rex wandering along a residential street, before dumping two bin bags next to a wheelie bin.

The clip was captured on a doorbell camera belonging to 47-year-old Carmine Rizzo on Tuesday night (2 December). The rubbish had been left outside his property.

Southend-on-Sea City Council said it hadn't received any official reports of a dinosaur fly-tipping.

In a statement, Cllr Lydia Hyde, cabinet member for climate, environment, and waste, said: “Fly-tipping is wrong, no matter how cute you are. There’s no need to fly-tip and it’s a selfish act that should also be extinct.

"Naughty-Rex should be making better use of their blue and pink bins so they can be less ‘Refuse Jurassic Park’ and more ‘Reuse Plastics and Glass.”
