Fire breaks out at building site in Lancaster
Firefighters have been at the scene in Caton Road

A fire has broken out in Lancaster, sending flames and smoke into the skies above the city.
It started at a building site in the Caton Road area at around 1pm today (Saturday 8th February 2025).
The site involved is believed to be a student accommodation block which is under construction.
The A6 Parliament Street is blocked both ways around A589 Greyhound Bridge Road.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is urging people nearby to keep windows and doors closed.
A spokesperson said:
"At 12:56 on the 8th February 2025, six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform attended a commercial building fire on Caton Road/Parliament Street, Lancaster. Firefighters utilised the aerial ladder platform and used three hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. Crews remain in attendance."
Photos and videos of the fire have been shared online.
There are no reports of injuries.
