England go through to the semi-finals of the Euros after the quarter-final against Switzerland went to penalties.

After 90 minutes the game finished 1-1 as England were taken to extra-time for the second game in a row.

It was 0-0 after halftime, but after the break Switzerland grew into the game and broke the deadlock with 16 minutes to go as Breel Embolo was on hand to turn in Dan Ndoye’s low cross.

Southgate reacted immediately by bringing on Cole Palmer, Luke Shaw and Eberechi Eze but it was Saka who quickly drew England level with a fine strike, cutting inside to fire home with England’s first shot on target.

England win penalty shoot out

England scored all of their penalties with Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Ivan Toney and Trent Alexander-Arnold all finding the net.

Jordan Pickford saved one of Switzerland's penalty shots, meaning England go through and will face either Turkey or Netherlands in the semi-final.
