Droitwich: centuries-old Raven Hotel bursts into flames
The site is said to be a 'big part' of local history

It's been a part of Droitwich's tapestry for centuries, but the emergency services have been rushed to The Raven Hotel this afternoon (10 August) to reports of of a major fire.
It's a Grade-II listed building, and is the site of the old Manor of Wyche.
According to the Droitwich Heritage Centre, the Bishop of Chichester, St Richard De Wyche, was born there in around 1197.
The Raven Hotel later became an Elizabethan house, and it was back in 1897 when The Salt King, John Corbett, commissioned its restoration and enlargement.
A blue plaque was later installed by the Droitwich Spa Civic Society and Wychavon District Council commemorating its deep history.
We're told the building is derelict, and was in the middle of a huge programme of works.
Wychavon District Council have said 'there has been a lot of concern' about the building's condition - and published an 'FAQ' section on their website answering locals' questions about the site and the plans for redevelopment there.
People on social media have been commenting on the tragic news this evening.
Droitwich Spa FC said: "We are devastated and angry to see The Raven Hotel, a big part of Droitwich history, suffer such a terrible fire this afternoon.
"Credit to Hereford & Worcestershire fire service who continue to battle against the blaze."
In a statement, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue said: "We are currently in attendance in Droitwich at a fire incident involving a derelict hotel on St Andrews Street.
"There are currently 6x fire appliances plus other specialist vehicles in attendance.
"We advise to stay clear of the area whilst on going and recommend closing all windows and doors if you live near by."
