A Hampshire family has issued a desperate plea as they try to get their seriously ill father home to the UK.

74-year-old Peter Burder suffered a stroke and collapsed in his apartment in Thailand last month.

He lay unconscious for three days until his family back home in Fareham raised the alarm when he didn't respond to messages.

Peter remains in a serious condition in hospital in Thailand where he's suffering from acute kidney failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, sepsis shock and pneumonia.

In just eight days, the medical bill reached £20,000 with a warning it could go as high as £50,000.

His family is now trying to get him repatriated, but a medical flight home could be an additional £20,000.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to raise essential funds - click here to donate.

His daughter Jolene has flown out alongside her Mum Lin and sister Cheryl to be with Peter in Thailand.

Jolene said: "One moment I was eating lunch at work and then I was on the next flight to Thailand.

"We were in the air for almost 13 hours not knowing if Dad had already passed away.

"If you could see what I packed you would laugh!

"Our priority now is to get Dad home and get him the care he so desperately needs in the UK. But this is going to come at a huge cost.

"My sister and I don't want money to get ourselves home. This is for Dad with Mum and a medic by his side. We'll sort ourselves out later. All we want is to see Dad get home as quickly as possible."

This comes at an already difficult time for the Burder family, with Jolene's brother currently in hospital in the UK having just had both legs amputated.
