Worlds Worst Christmas Tree is BACK
It's got a new lease of life.
THE CHRISTMAS TREE NOBODY LOVED FINDS A NEW HOME FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON AT A LOCAL CHARITY…
“We’re a charity – we couldn’t turn it away.” So says Judith Haysmore, chief executive of the Norton-based autism charity Daisy Chain – the new home of the Christmas tree that created uproar in Stockton last year.
Local residents called it “the worst in Britain”, “horrible” and “a bloody eyesore” when it was erected in the town centre.
But now the twenty feet tall structure – which has also been described as an upside down ice cream cone – stands near the entrance to the charities’ day centre sending out a seasonal greeting to all.
“I know not many people seemed to like it,” admits Judith. “But when Stockton Council offered it to us we were happy to take it in and give it a home. And some of our children really seem to like it. So maybe this is the right place for it.”
By way of contrast Daisy Chain has erected a wishing tree at the Charity Superstore on Portrack Lane in Stockton where people can go and for a small fee inscribe a message on a bauble which is then hung on the tree,
But, whichever you prefer, surely there must be a place in our hearts at this time of year for the lost the lonely and the outcast…including Christmas trees.
