Woman killed and toddler son seriously hurt in Darlington crash

29 year old died after the crash at St Cuthbert's Way on Sunday

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a woman was killed and her 5 year old son seriously injured when they were hit by a car in Darlington at the weekend.

It happened on Sunday afternoon (Sun 6th May) on St Cuthbert's Way, opposite the church, in the town.

Despite being airlifted to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough the 29 year old woman passed away later that night.

The toddler has significant injuries and is being cared for at the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.

A 36 year old man's been released under investigation on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
