A woman has died after a collision with a lorry on the A66 in Middlesbrough yesterday.

It happened just before 4.40pm eastbound towards Redcar when the vehicle was passing the Riverside Retail Park near Argos.

Police and paramedics were called but the 49 year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cleveland Police said: "Our thoughts are with her family at this extremely difficult time.

"The road remained closed until around midnight to allow initial collision enquiries to begin and we are now urging anyone who witnessed the incident and who has not yet spoken to police to get in touch.

"We would also ask anyone with relevant dash cam footage to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 227480"
