Two arrested after burglaries in Norton

Police were called to an aggravated burglary at an address on Imperial Crescent in Norton at 3.25pm yesterday, Thursday 15th September. The 69-year-old male occupant of the address suffered a head injury after being hit over the head with a hammer. The man was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees for treatment and he has now been released from hospital.

Officers are linking the incident to two other burglaries on Imperial Crescent earlier the same day, one at 1.55pm and another at 3.20pm. Jewellery was taken during the burglary at 1.55pm and police had attended to take the details of this incident. Nothing was stolen from the address which was burgled at 3.20pm or the further incident in which the victim was injured. Two men, aged 39 and 43, have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and they remain in police custody this morning.
