Tributes paid to woman killed in Greatham collision
The family of 75 year old Margaret Murray, from Easington, say she will be greatly missed
Margaret Murray, aged 75, from Easington, County Durham, died following a collision involving multiple vehicles on the A689 near to Greatham at around 12:45pm yesterday.
Margaret’s family said today: “Margaret was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend who will be greatly missed.”
The family have asked for privacy as they grieve together.
The collision involved four other vehicles; a red Audi A4 convertible, two Volkswagen Golf vehicles (one black and one grey) and a Citroen Picasso.
Five men have now been arrested in connection with the collision, they are aged 19, 20, 24, 25 and 26. All have now been released under investigation, whilst enquiries continue.
Officers would like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the manner of driving or have dash cam footage of a red Audi A4 convertible, which had the roof down, and a black Volkswagen Golf between the Rushyford roundabout (A167 roundabout with the A689) and the A19 / Wolviston roundabout.
Further footage is also requested of a red Audi A4, a black Volkswagen Golf and a grey Volkswagen Golf between the A19 / Wolviston roundabout along the A689 towards Hartlepool.
Footage is requested for both stretches of road between 12:15pm and 12:45pm on Tuesday 30th March.
