Police have arrested three people following raids at addresses in Darlington last week.

Search warrants were executed last Friday (21st November) at Lansdowne Street, Beaconsfield Street, and Salisbury Terrace, in an operation carried out by the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU) with support from Durham Constabulary.

During the searches, officers seized an estimated £12,000 in cash, multiple digital devices, and a quantity of suspected cannabis.

A 23-year-old man and two women, aged 23 and 52, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs and money laundering. All three have been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Speaking about the operation, Sergeant Neil Lovat from NEROCU’s Disruption Team praised the efforts of the officers involved.

Sgt Lovat said: “I want to thank everyone involved who helped secure this fantastic result. Three more suspects in the cells as we continue to disrupt and dismantle drug supply and organised crime across the North East.

“Nobody wants this type of criminality happening in their community, and we will remain dedicated to protecting the public from the violence and exploitation that this type of criminality brings.”

He also highlighted Operation Sentinel, which aims to dismantle criminal groups profiting from illegal drug supply and money laundering connected to organised crime.

Information about drug supply can be reported to local police or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
