Third man arrested in connection to an attempted murder in Middlesbrough
A 37-year-old man is in a critical condition after being struck by a car
A third man has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder investigation in Middlesbrough.
The 20-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, remains in police custody at this time.
Police launched an investigation after a 37-year-old man suffered serious injuries and a 24-year-old woman suffered less serious injuries when they were hit by a white Vauxhall Insignia as they cycled on Homerton Road/Gribdale Road around 9:05pm on Saturday 21st August.
The 37-year-old man remains in a critical condition at James Cook University Hospital.
Officers believe that the incident was a deliberate and targeted act.
Detectives are now appealing to anyone who may have any knowledge of this incident or who saw a white Vauxhall Insignia travelling along Stainton Way, Hemlington, approximately 4:50pm on Sunday 22nd August or anyone who may have CCTV or dash cam of the vehicle to get in touch.
The white Vauxhall Insignia was later found nearby; abandoned with severe fire damage.

Two other men arrested in connection with the investigation, aged 20 and 28, remain on police bail whilst enquiries continue.
