Ukrainian refugee in Teesside urges people to remember the conflict
It's been more than two years since the Russian invasion escalated
People in Teesside are being urged to remember the conflict that is happening over in Ukraine.
Ukraine is facing a difficult winter with worries about the reliability of the electricity supply amid Russia's attacks.
Olga Bakumenko is a Ukrainian refugee from Kharkiv who is currently living in Stokesley and she has recently come back from the war-torn country.
She said: "Every single night we could hear explosions in different areas of Kharkiv. Every night somebody was wounded or even killed.
"It was in the morning where people were arriving to their working place and they hit the centre of the city where a lot of offices are still working and more than 20 people were wounded.
"People are very tired. When I was using public transport I could see people's faces and it was like a sign of deep sadness inside because they're just accepting this life and they're continuing to do this.
"Some people are ready to accept any kind of peace which can be reached and other people still very much support fighting and fighting until victory.
"The first time when I just arrived here in Stokesley it was like an unreal life but of course now it's like my second home. I'm very lucky that I'm still living with my host who's now one of my best friends. For my daughter and my granddaughter, they're like their grandfather and grandmother.
"I took my daughter and my granddaughter to a very safe and comfortable place here because still Russia confirmed that they're going to destroy our infrastructure, they're going to leave us without energy, heating or basic things."
