Teesside hockey club named top club in England
Norton Hockey Club was presented the award in a virtual ceremony last week
A Teesside hocky club are officially the best in the country!
Norton Hockey club have been named the Sport England hockey club of the year.
International player Sam Ward announced the award in a virtual ceremony last week, celebrating the club for their achievements over the last 3 years - including bringing in 60 new players.
Norton Hockey Club is based at Norton Sports Charity in Stockton, running a range of teams playing in the North East Hockey League, the Ladies Durham Clubs league, indoor and Summer leagues, and national cup competitions.
Club Chairman Jon Carter commented ‘’We are absolutely thrilled and honoured to receive this most prestigious award. It is testimony to the huge amount of work done over an extended period by so many people associated with our fantastic club. To be chosen out of over 800 clubs across the whole country is a truly amazing achievement and bodes really well for the future of the club’’.
Norton Hockey Club President Peter Frost added ‘’Our sincere thanks go to England Hockey for the award and to Notts Sport for sponsoring it. This is a huge boost to hockey in the North-East and we are very much looking forward to continuing to support and grow the game over the years to come’’.
