Teesside drugs baron captured in Thailand after years on the run

A Teesside man wanted for trafficking drugs in the UK has been found in Thailand.

A man from Ingleby Barwick wanted for trafficking drugs in the UK has been found in Thailand.

47 year old Jonathon Moorby was captured by police on the island of Koh Samui.

The fugitive was sentenced in his absence at Teesside Crown Court in 2014 to 15 years for possession with intent to supply cocaine and amphetamines.

He's been captured overseas after being found holed up on the Thai paradise island.

Jonathon Moorby spent years on the run from a jail sentence for trafficking cocaine and amphetamines in the UK.

He was snared on the palm-lined island of Koh Samui in a joint operation between Thailand's Narcotics Suppression Bureau and Interpol.

In July 2016, he was ordered to repay £575,860 of his ill-gotten gains under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Thai officers say he'll be charged for holding a fake passport and illegally entering the country before he's deported.
