Suspected drugs and a sword seized by police in Middlesbrough

A 30-year-old man has been arrested after he was found in possession of drugs and a sword in the Newport area of Middlesbrough.

The man was stopped on Peel Street around 12:40pm on Wednesday 12th May and found to be in possession of suspected class A and class C drugs.

The sword was located in his trouser leg, following a search.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and C drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.

He has been released under investigation, whilst enquiries continue.

Permanent knife bins, where knives and sharp objects can be surrendered, are located at all four main police stations in Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Stockton and Redcar & Cleveland.
