Stockton woman could be paralysed after horse-riding accident in Egypt
31-year-old Olivia Fairclough is believed to have spinal injuries after being crushed by a horse on Friday.
The family of a Stockton woman who's stuck in an Egyptian hospital with life-changing injuries say it will cost tens of thousands to bring her home.
31-year-old Olivia Fairclough was horse-riding on Friday when the animal bolted and crushed her.
It's believed the former Egglescliffe pupil has suffered a broken back and broken ribs and legs.
With no travel insurance, treatment costs are mounting, as is the cost to fly her home for treatment.
Her brother Trevor is now raising money to pay the estimated ÂŁ32,000 bill.
He's heard very little from Olivia's doctors since the accident took place.
The 28-year-old told us: "I'm shaking, I haven't eaten, I haven't really slept.
"The last two days my Facebook and emails have been going off for the last 24 hours.
"She does sound paralysed from the waist down from the spinal injury, so we do need to get her back as soon as we can.
He's urging people who're travelling abroad to make sure they have the proper insurance in place, to ensure this doesn't happen to another family.
He said: "Everyone has wanted to travel to Australia, New Zealand or climb the mountains in America.
"Travel insurance is such a major thing and it often gets overlooked.
"I know people save so much money to do all these adventures and insurance and medical costs are the last thing on their mind."
Over ÂŁ2000 has already been raised by on Trevor's gofundme page, and he has spoken to doctors at James Cook Hospital who're trying to find out which doctor is attending to Olivia in Cairo.
