Snakes in a Lane 2

Published 11th Jul 2015

Members of the public living in the Wilton and Guisborough areas should be vigilant, after a second python was found on Wilton Lane this evening. The Burmese Python, which is around 8ft, was found by a member of the public in the middle of Wilton Lane at around 6:20pm. Officers were called and the snake was collected by vets.

This is the second snake found in the area in two days, and officers believe that they could have been abandoned. While there is no information to suggest there are any more snakes loose in the area, if any are found, they should not be disturbed and people and other animals should keep a safe distance. Over the weekend, walkers on Wilton Lane should take a common sense approach and parents with children should be vigilant. Anyone with information on who the snakes may belong to is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
