Shane Tunney Passes Away

Cleveland Police have confirmed that 24-year-old Shane Tunney, who was the victim of an alleged assault in the Norton area just over a month ago, sadly passed away yesterday evening at James Cook University Hospital.

A post mortem will be held this evening to establish the cause of Shane’s death.

Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

His girlfriend Vix Cooper (pictured) took to Facebook late last night to pay tribute:

"It was with a heavy heart I have to announce the loss of my soul mate, my true love and my best friend. His ventilator was removed at 4am this morning and managed another thirteen hours to breath on this own, at 17:12 with family at his bedside and the Rudimental album finishing playing he then took his last breath and decided to finally take the longest Shane nap of his life.

Words cannot describe how my heart has been broken or how the rest of his family feel. He was an inspiration, a hero and a big deal to everyone that knew him. Life will never be the same and I will never find anyone who could ever replace you. I love you so much Shane Tunney. RIP my beautiful angel, god only takes the best"
