Roy Chubby Brown Says New DVD Will Be His Last
After 40 years in the business, Teesside comedy legend Roy Chubby Brown says he's hanging up his helmet.
The Middlesbrough native says his farewell tour, Roy Chubby Brown Hangs Up the Helmet, will be his final DVD release.
While he insists he isn't retiring, the showman says he will be cutting back on his working hours.
The comic, best known for his blue language and risky routines, has always divided opinion among comedy lovers.
Speaking to TFM he said: "When a comedian walks on stage, he knows in the first few minutes what he can get away with.
"With me, I warn people.
"There's big posters up; if you're easily offended, stay away. You know what Roy Chubby Brown does."
The comedian revealed his sadness at what happened to the SSI steelworks in Redcar which has seen 1700 people lose their jobs.
He said his sons are running charity events to raise money for the families affected.
He said: "Humour has pulled us through and always will do.
"It's true, sometimes when you're in a dire situation, you think of the funny things.
"You don't think of the serious things."
